Creative Learning Activity

We’re proud of our commitment to the communities we serve and, alongside our programme of professional events, each of our venues has a dedicated in-house Creative Learning function as standard.

Our Creative Learning practitioners are experts in their field and are proactive in developing and delivering a programme of work, year-round, which is designed to engage and enthuse local people of all ages.

Projects undertaken vary from venue to venue – they’re developed specifically to dovetail with local priorities and initiatives – with the aim being to work with as wide a spectrum of participants as possible.

Example Projects

Our popular Summer Youth productions see hundreds of young people participating in the development and delivery of a live performance on the main stage. We offer weekly youth theatre classes in many of our spaces and associated classes for all ages in singing, dancing and acting. Venue teams have also developed programmes aimed specifically at older members of the community; from Memory Cafes and Dementia Film Screenings, providing a facility where residents with dementia and Alzheimer’s can meet, talk and participate; to Art Therapy classes, delivered alongside professional artists. Several venues also operate a Community Choir, bringing people of all ages together to sing songs from the shows visiting the theatre over the coming season.

Over the past 12 months, this work has touched the lives of more than 50,000 people.
